Abstract

Machine learning is transforming the entire technological landscape as we know today. With an increasing focus on academics, industry, and governments on ML, it is valuable to understand what makes it so powerful and stay up to date with the latest developments. This seminar would deliver a broad understanding of what makes ML so powerful along with the recent developments and how they are impacting the technological and social landscape. The seminar will discuss specific cases on how academics, industry, and governments are moving forward with Artificial Intelligence through Personalized Recommendations, Natural Language Understanding, as well as AI drove medical-care. This seminar will also include a brief view on how to leverage advancements in distributed computing to operationalize Machine learning and AI.

Speakers

Dr. Suleiman Ali Khan is Senior Machine Learning Scientist at the renowned University of Helsinki, Finland and has 10+ years of experience in Bayesian Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. He has won several international AI challenges and research grants. Dr. Khan is currently leading an AI team and lectures on Probabilistic Machine Learning at the University of Helsinki and has delivered several Machine Learning courses and talks. He has authored 20+ publications in leading international fora including Nature Biotechnology, The Lancet Oncology and Machine Learning Research.

Hussnain Ahmed is a Senior Data & Cloud Specialist and has 10+ years of professional work experience with large multinationals including Tieto Finland, Microsoft, Nokia Siemens Networks and Aalto University. Hussnain specializes in distributed computing systems for Big Data analytics. He is a keen researcher for advanced analytics particularly Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning. He also runs his own #AI company with the name of waazeh.ai.
